As a growing safety equipment supplier the owners of Ironwear decided that their corporate headquarters needed an upgrade. After investing in efficient business operations equipment Ironwear began researching solar energy to bring their utility bills down.
IronWear chose to install a 32KW solar photovoltaic system on the roof of their Riviera Beach corporate headquarters. The system installation made financial sense because Florida Power and Light the local utility offered a $50,000.00 cash rebate for the installation and the Federal government provided another 30% tax credit. Additionally, just like many other business equipment purchases the system qualifies for accelerated depreciation.
With all of the incentives combined the system will not only pay for itself in a short amount of time, but it will also offset over 50% of the buildings energy demand and reduce carbon emissions normally created by the utility.
Through Net-Metering, when the building is unoccupied or not using all of the electricity, IronWear receives a credit for energy created from the utility. That energy is sold to other customers in the area.
