Palm Beach County Electric Rates to Rise $2.80

As if the summer time heat wasn’t enough to send Palm Beach County residents electric bills soaring FPL has successfuly pushed them about $2.80 higher per month. The county commissioners have voted to allow for an increase to the Franchise Fee agreement with FPL for unincorporated Palm Beach County.

According to the Sun Sentinel article this will result in an extra $11 Million in revenue for the county as well. This new calculation is a result of the construction of a new power plant in Royal Palm Beach.

County Commissioners and the Public Service Commission could potentially request a similar rate hike that would fund a sustainable solar energy rebate fund. This could place millions of dollars into a state wide fund that could fund rebates for individual and commercial use for solar energy installations.
