Gainsville Fed-In Tarrif Max's Out in 3 days

Today news broke about the newly initiated feed-in-tarrif in Gainesville. The regional utility GRU is the first in the nation to incorporate the German style form of incentive program and has already had massive success. The small regional utility has literally doubled the Florida Solar Energy market in 3 days. Prior to March 3rd Florida had approximately 2 MW of distributed solar power on the grid. As of March 4th there are contracts signed for 4 MW and the systems will be deployed within the next 7 months.

The program is obviously getting a lot of attention and I am sure locally the PSC is certainly going to keep their finger on the pulse of it’s success to determine if it’s implementation should be considered statewide. The question is, will the Obama administration also consider this plan when looking at the options of a Federal Renewable Portfolio Standard in the US.
